A Bit About Us
Walking through Light is a non profit that was formed in 2021 by Jennie Nodwell and her family. In 2016, Jennie was working at an emergency foster care shelter in Missouri when God impressed on her to start her own program. Since then Jennie has been gathering information about what was lacking in the foster care system for those who are apart of it. That is why we provide drop off child care services for foster parents/ kinship to use, community service opportunities for youth in foster care to have an equal opportunity as others, a connection class to help adults connect with children and youth, a safe, neutral home setting for supervised visitation where parents can work on skill integration, and eventually a safe, secure overnight placement when needed due to no permanent or overnight placement found. We understand the struggle to find placement for some youth, which is why we provide services within 50 miles of Fremont to ensure workers and or foster parents are not spending too much time driving. We strive to get to know the child/youth and help them to succeed in their current and future placements.

Meet the Team
Jennie Nodwell
Hi! I am the founder and Executive Director of Walking through Light and Preschool Playhouse. I have a passion for children and doing what is best for them. I found my passion for the at risk population when I was in college and have always had a nach for children 5 and under. I have 6 kids of my own. Two bonus, 19 and 11, and four bio children 5, 4, 3, and 17 months. Life can be busy here but I felt called to pour out into the Fremont community through foster care and those 5 and under. I look forward to meeting everyone in the time I get to serve the Fremont community.
